At the end of 2013, Deutsche Bank announced that it would vacate its site in the banking district by 2017. Starting in 2014, the bank negotiated with the city of Frankfurt am Main and potential investors for a redevelopment of the site. In November 2015, the sale of the 16,159 m² site to Groß & Partner Grundstücksentwicklungsgesellschaft mbH was announced. The parties agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
In March 2016, the urban planning idea contest for the redesign was decided: the winner is the architectural firm UNStudio. Their design envisages the demolition of all buildings except the listed building on Junghofstraße and the construction of four high-rise buildings connected by a common base building. The high-rise buildings will be 233 m (Tower 1 - T1), 173 m (Tower 2 - T2), 120 m (Tower 3 - T3) and 100 m (Tower 4 - T4) high.
